Dr. Ayotunde Adeyeri, MD, FASMBS

Medical Director, Sterling Surgicare

Ayotunde Adeyeri, MD, FASMBS, is the Medical Director of Sterling Surgicare, with medical offices located in Holmdel, Old Bridge and Freehold, New Jersey in Monmouth County.

He is also Co-Medical Director and Partner at Central Jersey Bariatrics, located in Freehold.

Dr. Adeyeri is also the Medical Director of Hackensack Meridian Health’s Institute for Weight Loss, Old Bridge Medical Center.

He and his experienced administrative and clinical team specialize in highly personalized care for adult patients 18 and older in New Jersey who require routine or complex surgical operations.

His pre- and post-operative goal is to ensure patients regain their optimal health and achieve the highest quality of life possible.

Dr. Adeyeri specializes in performing bariatric surgery operations including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass and gastric banding surgery. In addition, he performs complex surgical weight loss operations, including bariatric revision and the duodenal switch.

Dr. Adeyeri completed his general surgery residency at Columbia University’s Harlem Hospital Center in New York City where he was appointed Chief Resident.

At the University of Rochester, he completed post-doctoral training in minimally-invasive and general surgery, specializing in bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric banding, bariatric revision and duodenal switch operations.

Desiree Rios, BSN, RN, CNOR, RNFA

Registered Nurse First Assistant

Desiree is a highly experienced certified nurse first assistant (RNFA), supporting Dr. Adeyeri in the Operating Room. She has more than 25 years of specialized surgical expertise in operating room nursing and nursing supervision.

She offers extensive expertise in bariatric medicine, serving as the Bariatric Navigator, OR Educator & Quality Coordinator at Raritan Bay Medical Center, and Director of Nursing, Surgery Center at Old Bridge, a joint venture with Raritan Bay Medical Center, part of the Hackensack Meridian Health network.

Desiree is the primary coordinator of your clinical (hospital) care in the OR, overseeing the pre- and post-op phases of  your operation, in partnership with Dr. Adeyeri, hospital-based anesthesiologists and clinical staff.

“I support Dr. Adeyeri in the hospital and provide personalized care for patients before, during and after any bariatric or GI surgical procedure is performed,” Desiree explains. “My goal is to ensure every operation is flawlessly executed to ensure the optimal safety of our patients.”

 

 


Amanda Glynn

Practice Administrator

Amanda joined our staff during the summer of 2021. A graduate of Northeastern University, she majored in behavioral neurology.

“I love helping bariatric patients navigate the process and admire that they are changing their entire lives,” she says. “I can’t wait to see the transformations coming!”

Amanda’s role encompasses the overall day-to-day management of the practice, including supporting Dr. Adeyeri. The staff medical assistant, accounts payable and accounts receivable also report to her.

Amanda has been a marvelous addition to our team and beloved by patients.

 


Lori Skurbe, RD, MPH, CDE Lori Skurbe, RD, MPH, CDE

Bariatric Dietitian

Lori is a seasoned professional who is truly passionate about health and nutrition and offers patients more than 25 years of clinical experience in weight management, bariatric nutrition and diabetes education. She earned her BS degree in Nutrition from Penn State University followed by a Master of Public Health degree from Rutgers University/UMDNJ.

Lori has worked in private physician offices, government agencies and ambulatory care centers providing nutrition education and counseling. She has also held positions at the local, state and national levels of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, including serving as president of the New Jersey Dietetic Association.

Lori also served as the Pediatric Sub-unit section editor for the Weight Management Dietetic Practice group’s newsletter and was named ‘Young Recognized Dietitian of the Year’ earlier in her career.

“Working with people transforming their health and their lives after bariatric surgery is a process–not a ‘one-and-done’ office visit,” Lori explains. “The operation is only one part of the journey to achieving a healthy body and a healthy weight. I have seen remarkable outcomes from hundreds of determined people.”

Lori has a passion for working with people to help them achieve their health goals through a warm, caring and friendly approach. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, exercising and cooking.
